THE INSTALLATION PROCESS IS A VERY SIMPLE ONE.
First, the area where the edging will be installed has to be prepared. Ground preparation is very important in achieving a professional looking product. A trench, two inches deep and eight to ten inches wide, around the landscaping beds is all that is necessary to accommodate the machine. Ground preparation can be completed using shovels, a sod cutter or trencher unit.
Second, concrete is prepared in a mortar mixer. Sand, cement, fiber and water are the basic ingredients. The consistency of the concrete is very important. The mix must be very dry. Colour additives can be added to the concrete mixture to increase the versatility and beauty of the final product.
After the mixture is ready, the concrete mix is shoveled into the Lil' Bubba® and extruded into a professional continuous landscape border.
When the concrete is extruded from the Lil' Bubba®, the texture of the edging is imperfect. Using a specially formed hand trowel, the concrete is quickly smoothed into beautiful edging.
After the curb is laid down, impressions are made by using various stamping tools. In addition, other coloring techniques can be done at this time. As a precaution to cracking from subtle ground movement, control joints are cut about half way through the edging every 1.5 metres while the concrete is still wet. In a colder climate, the control joints are cut every 1 metre.
Since there is no form work, no landscape damage, and no elaborate set-up, clean-up is minimal. Clean-up by pulling away any waste from the front and back of the curb, and dispose of it. Backfilling is not necessary, but creates finished look when the job is complete.
Ensure that you arrive to install the curb at the agreed time. Do not leave any rubbish and clean up the jobsite completely before leaving.
After Installation We recommend a follow up call four weeks after the curb has been installed. This will give you an opportunity to offer to seal the landscape curbing on a yearly basis to protect and enhance the curbing.
Integral colours are in powder form and are used to change the colour of the concrete mix; creating a curb that is coloured all the way through.
